WHO WE ARE

More than a program.
A pathway forward.

Growing With Trust is a nonprofit youth-development organization creating safe, supportive environments where young people build character, strengthen life skills and prepare for what comes next.

We work alongside families, schools, Juvenile Justice, foster-care and community partners, mentors and caring professionals so youth do not have to navigate difficult transitions alone.

OUR HISTORY

Built on experience. Created for impact.

Although Growing With Trust, Inc. officially began in 2023, our foundation is built on more than a decade of experience in human services, youth development, mentoring, and community advocacy.

Founded by Kenny Johnson Jr., Growing With Trust was created to address the challenges facing youth and families by providing meaningful relationships, advocacy, life skills, leadership development, and opportunities for growth.

Our Board of Directors brings more than 50 years of combined professional experience across human services, education, social work, behavioral health, nonprofit leadership, and community development.

Our mission is simple: create safe spaces, strengthen youth voice, build confidence, and help young people develop the skills and support needed to create brighter futures.

LEADERSHIP & BOARD

Experience behind the mission.

THE GROWING WITH TRUST STORY

Trust changes what young people believe is possible.

Young people can face stress, conflict, disconnection, school challenges, justice-system involvement and uncertainty about their future. Our role is to build consistent relationships around them and turn support into action.

We combine mentoring, social-emotional development, mental-wellness conversations, workforce preparation, educational exposure and community experiences. When needs go beyond our scope, we connect youth and families with qualified community resources.

“We don’t just ask young people what they want to become. We help them build a plan to get there.”

WHAT WE DO

Support built around the whole young person.

Breaking Away

Mentoring for youth ages 12–18, including young people who are at risk or justice-involved. Youth build identity, accountability, communication, leadership, decision-making and future-readiness skills.

Mental Wellness & Life Skills

Age-appropriate wellness, coping, emotional awareness, conflict resolution, self-advocacy and healthy decision-making activities help youth develop stronger responses to everyday challenges.

03

Career, College & Trades

Career exploration, résumé and interview preparation, workplace expectations, college exposure and hands-on introductions to skilled trades help youth see multiple routes to success.

04

Transportation & Access

When available, program transportation helps youth reach mentoring sessions, educational experiences, college visits, career exposure, service projects and approved activities.

HOW BREAKING AWAY WORKS

Do For • Do With • Cheer On

Our progression model moves youth from support and structure toward ownership, independence and empowerment.
